

Edward W. Donald Jr., age 88, of San Diego, California passed away on Friday January 25, 2019. He was born August 16, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York. Edward was the first and only son of Edward W. Donald, Sr. and his wife Robina Thomson, both, of whom, had immigrated to the U.S. from Scotland.
Edward served in the Air Force for four years and was honorably discharged in 1954 while serving at Lowry AFB, Colorado. He then entered the University of Northern Colorado to pursue his goal of becoming a science teacher. After graduation and the securing of his teaching credentials, he was recruited by San Diego High School to move to San Diego and teach in their Aerospace and Science program. Altogether, he taught and counseled at three local schools: San Diego High School, Clairemont High School and Garfield High School. He retired in 1990 with thirty years of teaching.
Edward had a rewarding teaching career and made many lifetime friends with some of his students and their families. He cared deeply about his students and helped steer many into rewarding careers and professions. Seeing the fruits of his labors, made his life meaningful and satisfying. He will be missed and remembered by all the lives he touched.
Edward is survived by his spouse of thirty-three years, Susan A. Donald, formerly Susan Monahan, and his daughter Jackie L. Georgi and her husband Ricky Georgi. He was pre-deceased by his dearly loved son, Curt Donald. He is also survived by stepchildren; Jeffrey Thomas and Tamara Trachsel, nine grandchildren, some of whom fondly called him by his nickname, "the boss":
Amber and Jamie Georgi, Abbie, Robby, Ellie, and Emily Thomas, Connor and Brandon Martorana and Jonathan Thomas.
Edward will be placed to rest at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA 92122 on February 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Honors will be presented under the auspices of the U.S. Airforce.
All are invited to celebrate his life with the family at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Club, at 7785 Othello Avenue, San Diego, CA 92111 from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. following the ceremony.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the San Diego Humane Society.
