Right in the middle of the great depression I received what I'd wanted all my life a beautiful baby sister.  now everyone would stop laughing at me for chasing the storks down the dock yelling "Storkey, storkey send me a baby sister.". She was about ten pounds and the most beautiful baby in the whole world and was my baby sister.
I last time I saw Joan was at her husband's memorial  service and she whispered in my ear with a sing-song tone
"Some people around here don't know what they're doing".  I whispered back "I think you're right"
God bless my beautiful baby sister and may God hold her in his arms.

The earliest memory in my life is of my dear sister, Joan, taking me for a walk in my baby buggy when I was only a couple months old. I remember enjoying looking up at the leaves just starting to come out on the trees. I also remember squealing and crying when she tried to stop and talk to a friend of hers. I guess I was a pretty bratty little eight week old. But even then, I loved my sister.

My Mom,  Joan Kosteck ( my only Mom, as my Mum died at age 49 ) was a kind, non-judgemental & caring woman who accepted me , without reservations, when I asked, Mom & Dads  permission &  stated my intention to marry their daughter, Cindi.  She immediately said, " Yep,  you sure can "...Dad said he needed some time first.  (Dad got into my criminal & financial records, to make sure I could care for Cindi ) 😀  I remembered this event, as Mom invited me into the family without batting an eye.  I remember the dinners where Mom would be quiet & then would enter the conversation with a humorous quip. She was selfless, congenial, loving with a smile that radiated  for all around her.  I believe she has entered Heaven & is without pain. I miss her. I will keep her in my  heart.  A truly remarkable lady. 💕❤

Dear mom Joan. Although you recently left us in the flesh, you are always still with us, with your soul and spirit and love. Your kindness and thoughtfulness to everyone will endure forever. The special holiday meals you shared, were very enjoyable occasions. You will be missed here by everyone that ever had the privilege to know you.

Aunt Joan was such a beautiful and elegant lady.  She was a great cook.. We made a trip to Arizona and so enjoyed our visit. Aunt Joan and Uncle Steve still seemed like newlyweds.  You could see all of the love they shared. They are together again enjoying a glass of wine. My prayers are sent for comfort and strength for her family and friends.  She will be greatly missed. 

My memories of Aunt Joan go back to before she and Uncle Steve moved from Michigan to Arizona.  Our times together were rare and too few, but her beauty, grace and warmth were constant gifts. Her obvious love for Uncle Steve and her family (immediate and extended)  was clearly evident. I will always remember when they made a difficult trip to Milwaukee to see my father in his last days.  They brought light to a dark time.  We are forever grateful for that visit  and  for the light that was Joan. 

My precious mother was a very kind, selfless and wonderful wife and mother. She always thought of her family needs before her own. I have wonderful memories of decorating Christmas cookies with her over the holidays. She made delicious meals from scratch. I loved her homemade pizzas & enjoyed picking out the toppings to place on our kid's pizzas. We frequently would go to the drive in movies & mom would make a huge bag of popcorn to take with us. This was so much fun for me. I couldn't wait for movie night each week. I was so excited! She had a strength that held our family together during sad times. I remember when our beloved pets died how she had so much empathy. She was truly a good woman & I had the greatest blessing of being her daughter.

Your grandmother was very sweet and so beautiful.  Heaven gained a precious angel.

My grandmother was an elegant 50's chick all the way through- she enjoyed drinking jammy ruby red wines every evening with my grandfather or her guests, and never turned down a chocolate pastry. She wore Clinique everyday and always had an emerald green lipstick bullet in her purse that I would try to sneakily use when she wasn't looking- but she knew. She always used silky handkerchiefs (she literally had one for everyday of the week) and would forcefully blot my face during the Summer heat, perplexed- because I was a total sweat fountain. 
My grandmother had beautiful sea-foam green eyes that were as calming as the ocean. Even when she was angry at her grandkids' shenanigans, she would emit a Lucille Ball-esque energy (See "I Love Lucy") and it would feel so whimsical, that you couldn't get mad at her for being angry at you.  
The Joan I came to know was a sassy woman who told you how she felt; she was straightforward, she was strong, and she was healthy. Now, I hope she's drinking a big glass of wine with my grandfather, wherever they may be. Even though she is still in our hearts, she will be incredibly missed.
