

Joaquina Bombino Martin August 21, 1921 - June 19, 2017 Bonita Joaquina was born in the countryside in Cuba to Desiderio Bombino and Rafaela Bombino. She lived in Cabaiguan, Ciego de Avila. When she married Pedro A. Martin, they resided in Fomento, Cuba. She was an expert cigar-maker, seamstress and a typist. In the 50s Pedro, Joaquina and their two daughters, Frances McCullough and Theresa Martin-Werk immigrated to New Jersey. She worked as an industrial embroidery mender and seamstress. In the 60s they moved to California, where they were able to become proud home-owners and U.S. citizens. She was a hard-working, dedicated friend, mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was compassionate to the needy, and a person of deep faith. She had a delightful sense of humor and lived long enough to enjoy visiting her newest great-granddaughters Jecelia and Aliana Sachs. She treasured her extended family of nephews, cousins, sisters, nieces and uncles. She is survived by her two daughters, Frances and Theresa, her sons-in-law Frank McCullough and Stephen Werk; her grandchildren, Michelle McCullough, Joel Sachs, Miriam Sachs-Martin, Jim McCullough and William McCullough; and 3 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Aliana, and Jecelia. Thanks to the staff at Monterey Trellis and Sharp Hospice. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name to: Sharp HospiceCare Fund-PP, PO Box 158, La Mesa, CA 91944-9942.
