Jose B. Ybarra

Jose was a loving husband to his wife, Olivia Pantoja Ybarra for 68 years; he was a wonderful father to his 6 children and loving grandfather and great grandfather to his 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was born in La Puente, CA on January, 24, 1924, then moved to Mexico with his mother where he spent most of his childhood until he returned in his early 20’s settling in Santa Barbara Ca with his wife, Olivia.

Jose worked several jobs in Santa Barbara until becoming employed with the Santa Barbara City Water Dept. moving his way up to a foreman position because of his extensive knowledge in his field. After 25 years of employment he celebrated his retirement and relocated to San Diego where he filled his 37 years of retirement life with home projects, gardening, catering parties, guarding his neighborhood, handyman jobs, entertaining and years of travel throughout the United States, Mexico and Europe.

He is survived by his loving wife, Olivia Ybarra; his 3 sons, Roger Ybarra, Gustavo Ybarra and Armando Ybarra; his 3 daughters, Susan Esqueda (Tony Esqueda, husband), Rachel Ramos (Ray Ramos, husband), Sandra Torres (Tino Torres, husband). His 12 living grandchildren, one deceased grandson, Michael Esqueda, and 14 great grandchildren

His generosity stands out at his greatest gift to anyone that was blessed to know him. He will be missed by his wife, his loving family and many friends and neighbors that he made throughout his lifetime.

Funeral arrangements will be held at Del Angel Humphrey Mortuary
