
Marjorie L. Burger, of Carlsbad, CA, passed away on January 8, 2013 at the age of 90. A proud third-generation native Californian, Marj was born in Santa Barbara, CA on June 23, 1923. She moved with her husband Ken to Red Bank, New Jersey in 1942.
Marj earned an AA degree from Santa Monica City College and later, at age 51, earned her bachelor’s degree from Newark State Teacher’s College. She became an Elementary School teacher.
Marj traveled extensively throughout the United States and Internationally. Marj loved to sew and in 19XX won the Vogue Pattern Sewing Contest for the state of N.J., going on to the national competition.
Marj and Ken returned to California in 1980, settling in Vista, CA. After the passing of her husband in 1991, Marj moved to the Pacifica senior community where she served as Landscape Director.
Marj was a Master Gardener, a member of the California Teachers Association, American Association of University Women, and Bonsall Women’s Club.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Richard and Christine Burger of Phoenix, AZ; daughter Donna Greenbush of Oceanside, CA; granddaughter Jessica Lindzy of Carlsbad, CA. and her beloved cat Sabrina.
She will be interred next to Kenneth at Santa Barbara Cemetery with a view of her treasured Pacific Ocean and Santa Barbara mountains. Her favorite charities were the Yosemite Fund and San Diego Humane Society. The family also thanks Elizabeth Hospice of Escondido
