She was born in Montebello, California, on February 3, 1953, and lived most of her life in Anaheim and Costa Mesa, before moving to San Diego County in the last couple of years. She is a graduate of Costa Mesa High School, where she attended with Gary Coburn, whom she met in junior high school and with whom she would eventually reunite and marry on April 10, 2010.
Mary worked proudly as a travel agent for Walt Disney Travel Company, Inc. She was an avid collector of clowns, Coca-Cola, and everything Walt Disney. She lived and breathed Disney, and she knew Disneyland like the back of her hand. She received great joy from inviting family and friends to experience Disneyland alongside her—her treat, of course. When she was not at Disneyland, she enjoyed shopping for thoughtful gifts for family and friends, baking seasonal breads and making candies for her famous gift baskets, and spending time with her loved ones—especially her children, and most especially, her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her children, Shawn Brown (and his wife, Kari Brown) and Shannon Barker (and her husband, Shawn Barker), as well as her grandchildren, Ryan Brown, Travis Brown, and Trinity Barker. They were her pride and joy.
She is also survived by her siblings, Nicki Pulos, John Carter, Cathleen Aram, and Teresa Carter, as well as her nieces and nephews, Jessica Carter, Jacob Carter, Michael Pulos, Lia Kaley Carter, Carter Aram, and Lukas Aram.
Mary was a loyal daughter, a loving sister, a devoted mother, a generous aunt (and great aunt), a doting grandmother, and a dedicated friend. She had a unique and special relationship with each and every person whose life she touched. Her laugh was infectious and her heart was as big as they come. We will miss her deeply.
