Mary Mendiola was born to Barbara Galindo and Gertrudes Molina in the family home in San Bernardino. Mary was the eldest of 8 children and had 3 sisters and 4 brothers. She left home at an early age, married young and spent her life raising children and caring for her extended family.
Mary was married to Antonio Mendiola for 37 years and together they had 6 sons (Robert,Abraham,Benjamin,Anthony,Rogelio and Oscar), 7 daughters (Mae,Yolanda,Barbara,Rosita,Maria Rebecca,Deborah and Genevieve), 29 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 29 great great-grandchildren.
Known to most as "Grandma Mary" she was a lady who lived a simple life and who's purpose in life was her family. She loved to be surrounded by children. Once she stopped having her own, she moved on to caring for her husband and mother through her illnesses and then continued with the generations of babies that followed in her grand and great-grandchildren. There was no limit to what she would do for others. Grandma Mary was very sensitive to the needs of others. Her sense of charity started at home but certainly didn't end there. She didn't question the needs of others and was always available to provide what was asked of her.
Mary is survived by her sister Louisa Almaraz, her brothers Augustine Mayoral and Miguel Mayoral; sons Anthony Jr, Rogelio and Oscar ; daughters Mae Ibarra, Yolanda Trinidad, Barbara Mendiola, Rosita Caballero, Maria Rebecca Leon, Deborah Mendiola, Genevieve Mendiola and many many more loved ones.
