He is also survived by his siblings, Thomas Pierpoint (Betty), Mertz Davis (George), Michael Pierpoint (Christine) and Robert Pierpoint. Being blessed with a large family, he is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Raised in a large Catholic family, Paul, the lone redhead, distinguished himself as a talented singer early on, music would be a constant in his life. He was a soloist and altar boy at the Basilica of Saint Mary in Alexandria, VA. Paul was a gifted writer, speaker and leader, who spent most of his working years managing Professional Trade Associations. Paul did not officially retire from working until he was 79 years old, a testament to his zeal for a solid work ethic.
In addition to his success in association work, he was an amazing, single father to his two daughters. Laura and Beth. His greatest joy came from his family. Moving to San Diego in 2000, was a major highlight. He was able to be closer to his daughters and grandsons and enjoyed watching them grow up and was very involved in watching them play sports. Paul appreciated the beautiful San Diego sunsets, watching them nightly for years; he always said, “The best part of the show is 15 minutes after the sun sets”. We will think of you, Dad, with every sunset.
Paul will be interred on September 4, 2021, at Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum in San Diego, CA. There will be a memorial mass in his honor on April 3, 2022, at the Basilica of Saint Mary in Alexandria, VA.
