Susan Rosen

1922 – 2012

Susan M. Rosen, of Rancho Bernardo, died August 11, 2012. She was the beloved wife of Herman"Hank”; mother of Daniel

(Nancie), Frederick, and Marjorie Abel; grandmother of Zoe, Justice and Bodhi; and sister of the late Lenore Gottfried.

Born in the Bronx, NY,on May 7, 1922, Susan was just two and her sister eight when their mother, Ida, died during routine surgery. Susan and Lenore were raised by their father, Alexander Marcus, aunts and neighbors.The sisters remained close throughout their lives. Susan graduated from Morris High School in the Bronx and attended Hunter College in NY. Soon after WW II, Susan

met Hank, a returning veteran, on the boardwalk at Rockaway Beach, NY. They married in 1946. In their loving 66 year marriage, Susan demonstrated her talent in decorating and interior design, furnishing warm and comfortable homes in North Woodmere, NY, Margate, FL, Hampton Bays, NY and Rancho Bernardo, CA.Before and after marriage Susan worked in sales at

department stores. She also had a love for multiple hobbies and crafts. Susan’s beauty, grace and warmth will be remembered
