Dorothy Morgan was born in Arcata, California on June 20th 1926. The third of three children born to Carl and Mary Duncan, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Mel Duncan and her sister Nadine Kinney.
She also outlived her daughter, Barbara Pinto, her grandson Gregory Gunn and her stepson Joe Morgan.
She leaves behind her son in law, Paul Pinto, and her grandchildren Shane Gunn and Jennifer Gunn, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, loving cousins and nieces and nephews.
When Dorothy was eight years old she left Arcata with her family and moved to a farm in Todds Valley. There she truly blossomed. She was the only non-native child in a one room Miwok school. She had wonderful adventures there with her brother Mel, her horse, Pet, and her dog, Shep. Following the lessons and example set by her mother, she began at a young age mastering the art of kindness and compassion for others.
During WWII she married Ed Morgan and had one child, Barbara. She found her true calling, serving others, as a nurse in DeWitt State Hospital. Eventually she became the Supervisor of the Children’s Ward at Camarillo State Hospital in Southern California.
Dorothy’s strong faith in Christ led many others to seek the Lord. She was that one special person to whom everyone in our family turned for acceptance, comfort and prayer. Dorothy was a blessing to everyone who knew her. She loved and appreciated us, and she made sure that we knew it.
We will miss her amazing memory and her wonderful ability to turn those memories into the vivid stories that she so generously shared with us. She could always find the right words. Dorothy Morgan, our beautiful friend will be missed by so many. She is finally home in the arms of the Lord.
