

The youngest of eleven children, Roland was born in Wareham, Massachusetts on November 6, 1930 to Peter and Elmira (Gagnon) Pires. He worked for the Department of Defense at McClellan AFB where he retired after 30 years of employment. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.
He spent his retirement years in Sun City Roseville doing what he loved, playing golf and vacationing in Hawaii. He was the most loyal, selfless, and dependable, loving person anyone could ever have the privilege of knowing. He touched the lives of those who knew him with his quiet strength, generosity and willingness to always lend a hand while sharing his life experiences and knowledge with family and friends.
Roland leaves behind his devoted wife of over fifty-five years, Jacqueline; his children, Kathleen (John) Swan of Bakersfield, CA; Roland Jr. (Sheri) of Granite Bay, CA; grandchildren, Roland III and Jennifer Pires; step grandchildren, Justin and Dylan Black. Sisters: Alice Texiera, Doris Pennington and sister-in-law Beatrice Pires of Massachusetts. He was the brother of the late Armand, Lucien, Maurice, Wilfred, William, Molly Bearse, Mary Andrade and Tillie Rose. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Roland was looking forward to becoming a great grandfather.
At his request there will be no formal service. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends. Roland’s final resting place will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Sacramento, CA. Remembrances may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
