I am thinking this might be the Harley Keys I was stationed with in Vietnam.
I was stationed with the 4th Inf Div near Pleiku from June 1967 till June 1968. I am hoping it isn't. I was just trying to find some of the people I met and knew from over their and happened on this site. Please let me know if this sounds like him. Thank you very much. I met Harley back in 1994 when I was looking for a job in the San Francisco State University library. We got along extremely well from the beginning and would often talk with him long after I was done with work. Our friendship continued long after I finally graduated from SFSU, where we would meet for lunches at the student union building every few weeks until early this year. We would talk about his interests, and he had wide ranging interests in books, parapsychology, Spiritualism, Libertarianism, Ayn Rand, stamps, country life, farming, UFOs  and much of what he would jokingly call Hocus Pocus. He seemed to be a loner, sometimes a misanthrope. His favorite times would be long walks in the very early hours of the morning listening to audio books. Or he would take his VW camper and go to a remote campsite and commune with Nature. This connection with the earthiness of Nature seemed to be very important to him. He loved to collect things (books, stamps, glass figurines, and much else). He was a confirmed Pacifist, had a horror of war and never wanted to discuss his days in Vietnam in the 1960s. He came to my house several times, where he relaxed on the deck with the view of the bay.He enjoyed the company of my parents, and was always generous with gifts of food for them and gifts of books for me-- for we were both confirmed bibliophiles.
