He was born on January 31, 1948 in Charlotte, Texas to Manuel and Anita Gonzales.
Mando was a hard-working man who enjoyed living a simple life. After growing up Mando spent a couple years in the United States Army until moving back to Texas and starting his life journey working farms, taking care of animals and tending to the fields. He was the type of man who loved his family deeply but would also show love to strangers, as he would do anything for anyone if they needed something. In his spare time Mando enjoyed hunting and fishing, listening to music while he had an ice cold one or two, and spending time with family. He was the best brother and brother-in-law a person could have. Those he loved will miss him deeply and the memories shared will be fondly remembered.
Mando is survived by a son Rudy Gonzales and a daughter Rachel Hornsby and husband Chris both of the DFW area, by 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, by a brother Manuel Gonzales Jr. and wife Carmen of Colorado City, and by a sister Bertha Gonzalez and husband Emiliano of Lubbock, as well as by several nieces, and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Anita Gonzales and by his sisters Alicia Camacho and Adela Hernandez.
A burial service with military honors for Mando will be held at 10AM on Thursday, August 24, 2023 in the Mitchell County Cemetery under the care and direction of Kiker Seale Funeral Home.
