

Edward Roach, age 90, passed away at a local care center on August 25, 2014. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 10AM at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Colorado City Cemetery under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Edward Burk Roach was born April 22, 1924 in Colorado City to Ed and Vera Roach. He lived in Mitchell County for 90 years. After his service in World War II in the Army Air Corp, Edward married Winnie Colbert on August 16, 1950. Ed and Winnie ran a dairy business until 1953 and then he became a full time farmer. During his farming and ranching career he also served for 20 years (5 terms) as County Commissioner from 1985-2004. Once he retired from farming, he loved keeping his hands in the soil doing some gardening.
Ed served as a deacon and Sunday school director for several years at Calvary Baptist Church and remained active in his church for decades. In addition he served on the CISD School Board for multiple terms.
Ed is survived by his son, Ty Roach; his daughter, Kelley Roach Pitts and her husband Steve Pitts; daughter-in-law Barbara Roach; his first granddaughter Carly Roach Carlough and her husband Jason Carlough and their children Robert Edward Carlough and William Christopher Carlough; his second granddaughter Mandy Roach Cox-Joost, her husband George Joost and daughter Ella Renee Cox.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Winnie Roach on June 4th of this year; son Edward B. Roach Jr.; his brother Billy Earl Roach; sister Wanda Roach Gunnels; and his parents Edward and Vera Roach.
A family visitation will be held from 6-7:30PM at Kiker-Seale Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 27th.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Edward’s name be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
