Gladys was born at her home in Colorado City on April 8, 1928 to Tal and Fredonia McCullough Coburn.
She was a very outspoken person who was not afraid to tell it like it is. She was a woman who got along with everyone that she met, which was a lot of people because she got along with everybody. She was a very outgoing woman who knew when to crack a joke at just the right time, but she knew how to be stern when needed. This sense of easygoing and her sternness made raising a child something that she did very well, and after she was done raising her children she continued on by helping to raise her grandchildren, two of which Sharee and Starla she raised until they graduated from Colorado City High School. She was also very strong in her faith, which is a trait that she passed down through the generations to her family. She would take them to church with her at the First Assembly of God in Colorado City of which she was a member and Sunday School Teacher. Those that knew her, knew that she was a mighty fine yodeler. In all Foxy Lady as many knew her was a loving passionate woman that would do anything for family, community, and friends. In her spare time she enjoyed writing poems, many of which were published in the Colorado Record over the years.
Gladys is survived by her husband Wallace Stevenson and by her grandchildren; Sharee Paschall and Fiancée Shawn Thompson of Cloute, Starla Casares and husband Bryan of Colorado City, Johnny Gonzalves and wife Angie of Lake Jackson, Richard Mason and wife Tonya of Brownwood, Robbie Fox of Lubbock, Marlon Fox and wife Pamela of Tracy California, David Fox and wife Kerry of Oregon, and Gary Fox and wife Tammy of Oregon.
