

She was born in Mt. Pleasant, Texas on August 25, 1919 to Monroe and Carrie Lingelfelt Evans. Though she claimed to be a simple homemaker Imogene was anything but, she was in fact a very hard working woman. She spent many years volunteering for the local mission, and after obtaining her license to drive in 1943 for just a quarter she worked as a truck driver.
Imogene’s life was a very full one, in 1921 she moved from Mt. Pleasant to Knox City traveling via a horse drawn wagon. On August 19, 1939 she married the love of her life Mr. Madison Crawford who preceded her in death on July 22, 1990. In her life as a ranch-hands wife she witnessed many things, electricity become main stream, the invention of cars, telephones, airplanes and got to see many presidents take office.
Imogene is survived by her sons; James Crawford and wife Chris of Tyler, Gary Crawford and wife Vickie of Oklahoma, Gordon Crawford and wife Denise of Colorado City, and Roger Crawford and wife Jessie of Colorado City, as well as by a daughter-in-law Debbie Crawford of Colorado City. Also surviving are her 15 grandchildren, her sister Pearl Stevens of Knox City, as well as by several great and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Madison, by a son Harrell Crawford, and by her sisters Thelma and Lizzie.
A funeral service for Imogene will be held at the Kiker Seale Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 10th at 10 am with Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Westbrook Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday, August 9th from 6-8 pm at the Kiker Seale Funeral Home.
