

He was born in Colorado City, Texas on May 14, 1981. Jay graduated from Colorado High School in 1999. He received his bachelor’s degree and was currently pursuing his MBA while caring for the elderly at Avir Enchanted Rock Nursing Home in Ingram, Texas.
Jay was full of charisma, entertaining friends, telling jokes, and always smiling. Everyone agrees that Jay was a funny guy – never a straight face when
he was telling a story.
He was a devout Christian, attending Pioneer Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas.
Psalm 90:12, a prayer from Moses, expresses Jay’s outlook through his faith, understanding the fragility of life, living wisely, learning and growing, preparing for eternity, and sharing that wisdom with loved ones.
Jay was preceded in death by his father, James Richard Cox, paternal grand-parents James Edwin and Marcelene Cox, maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Pat Kelley.
He is survived by his mother, Deborah Watson, and husband, Craig Denton; beloved uncle, Robert Cox, and wife, Mary Margaret, cousins Sarah Ann Cox-Kuss (Luke and cousin Edwin), and Tanner Cox; brother Dalton Cade Cox (Liz) and nephew Caleb, sister Jaime Camille Anderson (Milo) and nieces Caroline and Hayden.
Jay will also be dearly missed by his closest friends Philip Castro, Clay Eades, Renae Lewis Banburry, Crystal Costabile, George Guerra, Najla Laha, and Ryan Acosta.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Kiker-Seale Chapel, Colorado City, Texas.
