Mr. Jesse Barrera, age 79, of Sweetwater, died Monday, September 1, 2014, in an Abilene hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Udegbunam officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell County Cemetery under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Barrera was born December 4, 1934 in Bastrop, TX to Francisca and Francisco Barrera. He was a Sweetwater resident for most of his life. He married Rosa Carrasco on September 11, 1954 in Colorado City. She preceded him in death on October 9, 2003.
He is survived three daughters; Olga Martinez of Colorado City, Janie Dennison of Abilene, and Sylvia Lewis Bounds of Blossom; two sons: Jesse Barrera and Danny Barrera, both of Loraine; seventeen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He is also preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David Barrera and Joe Barrera; and a grandson, John Martinez.
A rosary will be held at 7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
