She was born on January 22, 1931 in Jewett, Texas to Edward and Cresencia Rocha Gonzales.
Josie was a woman who loved her Lord, loved her family, and loved to help others. She was a member of Plainview Church of Christ in Colorado City. Many in the area knew her from the years she spent working at the Claxton Lodge and at the Loraine Manor. In her spare time she loved reading her Bible (daily), spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she cherished dearly, going out in the yard and taking care of her flowers and quilting. She was a great wife and a loving mother. Her warm embraces, humbled spirit, and quiet smile will be cherished by many.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Rankin of Loraine, Mary Lou Costabile and friend David Ginkinger of Colorado City, and by her grandchildren Niki Mayer and husband Kevin of Bosie Idaho, Ryan Costabile and wife Amanda of Colorado City, Crystal Costabile and husband Billy of Crystal Beach, Amanda Nichol Costabile of Colorado City, Mark Rankin and wife Mila of New Berns North Carolina, and by great-grandchildren Raegan Costabile of Granbury, Lexi, Harlee and Creed Haag of Colorado City, Jules and Slate Rawson of Crystal Beach, Kimmi, Kelsie, Ian, and Kye Mayer of Abilene, Marcell Madison of New Berns, North Carolina, Matthew Rankin and wife Alexia of El Paso, and great-great-granddaughter Sarah Rankin of New Berns, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Yruegaz, by her parents Cresencia Roach Gonzalez and Edward Gonzalez, by her son in laws Jerry Rankin and Frank Costabile and by her 9 siblings.
A private family burial service will be held in the Loraine Cemetery. Visitation and a celebration of Josie’s life will be held at a later date and time when limited gathering regulations are lifted.
