JT was born January 31, 1928 in Mitchell County, Texas to Oscar and Willie Francis Flanigan Rich.
JT was raised and lived in Mitchell County his entire life. At 12 years old he accepted Jesus Christ and in his words “never looked back”. On August 26, 1946 he married the love of his life and spent 72 years together until her passing in 2018. He always said his two greatest loves were Jesus and Delpha. Together Delpha and JT raised 7 children which were their greatest accomplishments. He was a man of God and loved to sing and play worship music. There was not an instrument that he picked up that he couldn’t play. JT was a hard worker and took pride in his construction work. There wasn’t a machine he couldn’t operate. He proudly worked for Mickey Neff until he was 85 years old. There was no greater pride that JT had than that of his family. He loved being with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. JT would help anyone if they needed as it was just a part of his giving spirit.
JT is survived by sons Raymond Rich and wife Renae of Westbrook, Gaylord and wife Roxann of Lubbock, and Glenn and wife Pam of Coahoma, Daughters Janette Moody and husband Jimmy of Westbrook, Oma Lelek and husband David of Quitman, Sandra Sullivan an husband Glenn of Colorado City, and Rhonda White and husband Todd of Wink, as well as 21 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren.
