

He was born on May 17, 1943 in Fort Worth Texas to Lon and Ruthie Davis Robertson.
Lonnie was a simple man who loved his family and his community. He was a man who truly had a servant’s heart. Lonnie spent 2 years in the Army from 1966 to 1968 fulfilling his civic duties during the Vietnam War and was a volunteer fireman for the Colorado City Fire Department. In his younger days Lonnie worked for his parents at Thomas Brothers Texaco until they retired. After working there he went to work for the prison system in Colorado City where he worked until he retired. Lonnie was a lifelong Christian and Baptist. He rededicated his life to Jesus Christ in the 80s while living in Kentucky and was baptized again in a nearby river. In his spare time Lonnie enjoyed playing poker in Sweetwater with his friends, going golfing, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and keeping in touch with his classmates from the Colorado High Class of 1961. His dedication to his community and to his nation were greatly appreciated and will be remembered by those he served with.
Lonnie is survived by his sister Peggy Smith and husband Jerry of Crane, by nieces and nephews Tanesa Smith, Alonna Miller, and Brodey Smith as well as by 6 great-nieces and 3 great-nephews.
A graveside service for Lonnie with Military Rites will be held in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene on Thursday, March 30th at 2pm with Julie Erwin officiating.
