Wayne Wayland Claxton, 88, of Colorado City, passed away on September 29, 2022. Funeral services will be Monday, October 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Kiker-Seale Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Reamy officiating. Burial will follow in the Colorado City Cemetery.
Wayne was born on January 24, 1934 in Loraine, Texas to the late Clarence William and Ora Mae Garrett Claxton. He was a lifelong resident of Mitchell County where he graduated from Colorado High School in 1951. He married the love of his life Mary Nell Claxton on February 16, 1958. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and church treasurer. Wayne was a longtime employee of Cosden Refinery.
Wayne was a kind, gentle man whose actions were thoughtful and intentional. He loved people and never met a stranger. Wayne was a gifted storyteller and amused many with his newly discovered jokes. His laugh was contagious. He was dedicated to his family and friends and was fully invested in their lives.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Mary Nell Claxton, brother Audavee Claxton, sisters Gladys Oden and Juanice Peach, brothers-in-law Aeron Oden and James Peach, and sister-in-law Gwen Claxton.
He is survived by his two sons and their wives, Chuck and Marcy Claxton and Jay and Cheri Claxton; grandchildren Brittany, Jay Ryan and wife Mackenzie, Colten and wife Riley, Morgan, and Jaci; great-grandchildren Jase, Kirkland, Tatum, Hamilton, and Collins; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
