Celebration of Life Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel with Pastor Robin Garrison officiating.
A native of Lane, Arthur was born December 16, 1938 to James Andrew and Geneva Cannon Montgomery. Arthur was a member of the Air National Guard and in 1962, during the Berlin Crisis he served his country proudly when he was called to active duty in Spain. He was a computer technician for NCR until his retirement. Arthur will be remembered as a Mr. Fix It, he enjoyed camping with family and friends, cooking and red Ford vehicles. He had a special place in his heart for his Bernese Mountain Dog, Tillie. Most importantly, he loved his family, always having batteries for the kid’s toys and attending their band, sporting, and other events.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a son, Alex Warren Montgomery, a sister, Carolyn Moss, a brother, Billy Montgomery, two baby brothers who died in infancy, two brothers-in-law, Frank Ward and William Marshall, Jr.
Survivors and those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 54 years, Cecelia Marshall Montgomery; a son, David Andrew Montgomery (Crystal); four grandchildren, Katelynn Alexandra Duffie (Traywick), Austin Andrew Montgomery, Tyler LeGrande Montgomery, Spencer Grayson Montgomery; one great-grandson, Dawson Traywick Duffie; a sister, Patricia M. Boney; two brothers-in-law, TJ Marshall, Eddie Ward; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, the Epilepsy Foundation or to a charity of one’s choice.
