COLUMBIA - Betty Quattlebaum Onley, an amazing mother, tireless employee and loving caregiver to her deceased son William Russell Onley (Rusty) and husband William Oscar Onley, Jr (Bill) passed away July 08, 2020 at the age of 93. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Onley Verlander of Gainesville, Georgia.
Betty was born in Wagner, South Carolina January 18, 1928. She graduated from Phifer College, Charlotte, NC and was a loyal and tenacious employee of the Library Systems of the State of South Carolina for over 40 years where she was loved and respected by her fellow employees and staff.
Betty married William Oscar Onley, Jr December 22, 1950 and enjoyed a loving 67 year marriage. She was a devoted member of Bethel United Methodist Church and through Bill, a loyal Clemson University fan where they supported the tigers throughout their lives.
Betty and Bill resided in the Arcadia Lakes Township for over 50 years and enjoyed a wonderful caring neighborhood where friends and neighbors were as close as family members. Betty was passionately cared for by for Shandon Tillman who loved her like a mother, also Laurie and Bruce Auld and Brenda and Lem Harper who gave Betty kindness and support nearly every day she lived after Bill’s passing. Her final days were spent in Rice Estate where she was surrounded by loving dedicated staff members who cared for her until the day she passed.
Private graveside funeral services were held by Dunbar Funeral Home and interment by Elmwood Cemetery.
