Billy J. Scarbrough

COLUMBIA - A graveside service with military honors for Billy J. Scarbrough, 79, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.

Mr. Scarbrough died Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Born in Oklahoma City, OK, he was the son of the late Jesse and Ethel Ruth Cole Scarbrough. He graduated from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma, with a B.S. in Biology (Zoology) and was employed as a Laboratory Animal Technologist with the Medical University of S.C. for 10 years. He served in the U.S. Marines, including service in Vietnam.

Billy loved his grandchildren and listening to music while taking long drives. He also enjoyed trips to the beach and watching old movies.

Surviving are his wife, Jennifer Tatum Scarbrough; sons, Terry L, Tatum, David Scarbrough; daughters, Emily R. Tatum, Meaghan D. Tatum, Rachel M. Scarbrough; grandchildren, Carson R. Fitts, Rylee Elizabeth Fitts, Dylan Scarbrough, Danielle Scarbrough, Nicholas Scarbrough. He was predeceased by a sister, Neva L. Barnard.
