COLUMBIA – A funeral service for Daniel Hampton Jordan, Jr, 75, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Trenholm Road United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
Danny died Saturday February 1, 2025 surrounded by his wife and two sons. Born in Green Sea, SC and raised in Nichols, SC, he was the son of the late Daniel Hampton Jordan, Sr. and Hassie Jane Blanton Jordan. He was an Underwriting and Marketing executive at Seibels Bruce and was a member of Shandon Presbyterian Church. He received the prestigious insurance designation of CPCU and was an active member of the Optimist Club.
Danny was a kind, gentle and resilient man. His charismatic personality and permanent smile always lit up a room, and he had a unique ability to make conversation with any and every one he met. He graduated from the business school at The University of South Carolina, was an avid Gamecock fan and proud member of Chi Psi Fraternity; where he was nicknamed “Tweet.”
A lifelong Boy Scout, Danny was always prepared, stocked with flashlights, batteries, and first aid kits, never leaving home without his pocketknife.
Danny loved to stay active, working on projects around the yard, golfing, but most importantly spending time boating with his family on Lake Murray, Murrells Inlet and Little River.
His wife of 47 years, Deedie, was the love of his life and their love story was something you would see in a fairytale. Throughout their entire relationship, Danny and Deedie were in lock step with one another and truly embodied what partnership should be. His love for Deedie was infinite and they both described their love as “bigger than all the water in the world.”
Moreover, he never missed an opportunity to brag about his boys who he claimed were “the greatest gifts God has ever given him.” If you were around Danny, without question, you would hear him boast about how proud of Hampton and Richard he was and details about recent successes and accomplishments, especially about basketball, their time at The Citadel, and all their leadership endeavors.
Surviving are his wife, Deedie Jordan of Columbia, SC; two sons, Hampton Jordan (Rebecca) of Columbia, SC and Richard Jordan (Chad) of Charlotte, NC; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Ann Jordan and Caroline Jordan; and his sister Jane Jordan Holmes (Damon) of Nichols, SC.
The family wishes to thank the multitude of caregivers at Home Instead, Atria and White Oak, where Danny was surrounded with love and support.
Memorials may be made to The Citadel Foundation in honor of Daniel Hampton Jordan III and Richard Blanton Jordan or The Parkinson’s Association of the Carolinas.
