David was a wonderful man. My husband  learned so many things from him over the years and spoke often of their childhood together. He was such a joy to sit around and talk too about so many things. Such a country boy at heart. You will be missed David.

I was sad when I heard the news of David passing. We go way back from high school together to me working at Sikes Bar-B-Que. He never met a stranger and treated me like family. I recall the last encounter when he came to see me at work (VA Hospital). We hugged, and spent time catching up on family and happenings in our lives. And before he left we hugged again and exchanged I love you. We agreed to not let so much time pass before we catch up and exchanged phone numbers. He was a gentle giant and if you had the opportunity to meet and talk with him, your life was touched forever. Rest easy my dear friend. I’m grateful to have known you.

I have such fond memories of David at Hammond when he was a student in my 4th-grade class.  He could be a "hand full", but he was one of my favorite boys.

David absolutely loved life and lived it the way he wanted to. He loved his children and his grandchildren and would do anything for them. He treated everyone he met as family and would give you the shirt off his back. I remember the first thing he ever asked me but not going to post it word for word. It was the same question he would even ask random strangers. He said when was the last time you were ( well if you knew David you know the rest lol). Life most definitely will not be the same without him he could turn any situation into a laughable moment. You will be missed old man but never forgotten

You have always had a piece of my heart. Rest easy.

The first time I meet Uncle David the first thing he did was want to bump belly’s lol he taught us how to not be afraid to try anything you never know until you tried.  No matter what was going on you needed him he would be the first one there and you knew it was going to be a fun experience mainly because Uncle David was there.  I know my life and my children life will never be the same. Keep Riding. RIP

I remember when I was a little girl  you would push me all around the bar-b-que house while I sat on the base with wheels for a trash can.  You were always smiling!  You are at peace and I know you have had a blast reuniting  with Cathy, Aunt Nora, Bubba, Mamma Ruth,  Granddaddy, Ronnie and everyone else.  I am sure 'Miss Alma" greeted you too.  Rest easy.
