

Born in Rich Hill (Lancaster County), she was the daughter of Hunter Montgomery Reeves and Ola Mae Sims Reeves. She attended SC Baptist Nurses College graduating as an RN. An accomplished historian, researcher, author and editor she worked tirelessly to preserve South Carolina History. She held offices in many national historic organizations, serving for decades as the Curator of the Battleship Silver at the Governors Mansion. Mrs. Jeffcoat was an accomplished hostess, gardener and world traveler. She spent years in many civic and youth groups, but the role she loved best was that of devoted wife and mother.
Mrs. Jeffcoat is survived by her five children: Cindy Larsen of Little River, Joe Jeffcoat (Carla) of Prosperity, Juli Jones (Gary) of Blythewood, Michael Jeffcoat (Tracey) of Charlotte, NC, and Joyce Derr (Brian) of Wagener, 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of 56 years, she was predeceased by her sister, Jackie Bell and her brother, Marion Sims.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 30th at 9:00 am at Dunbar on Devine. A funeral will follow at 10:00 am. A second funeral will be held at 1:00 pm at Rich Hill Baptist Church, in Heath Spring. Burial and a reception to follow.
Memorials may be made to Rich Hill Baptist Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
