
COLUMBIA - Frances Tuttle Robertson, 93, of Columbia, SC, widow of RADM William Dixon Robertson, Jr., passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30th at Washington Street United Methodist Church. Burial will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 29th.
The daughter of Hattye Lee Warthen and John Francis Tuttle, Frances was born April 6, 1929, in Florence, SC. She graduated from the University of South Carolina. Predeceased by her parents and husband, she is survived by her two children, William Dixon Robertson III (Allison), and Frances Robertson Butler (Barre); three grandchildren, Frances Lee Butler Bressan (John), William Barre McLeod Butler, and Allison Bethea Robertson; three great-grandchildren, John McLeod Bressan, Robertson Lee Bressan, and Clara Frances Bressan; sister-in-law Sassy Shull; and three nieces and their families. The family would like to express their gratitude to two special friends, Stella Sims Riley and Ray Sims.
The quintessential Navy wife, “Tut” never tired of travel or entertaining. She was an active person, avid reader, and bridge player, belonging to several organizations including Daughters of the American Revolution, The Fortnightly Club, The Club, and the Columbia Garden Club.
