Born in Laurens County on January 8, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Clyde Johnson and Margaret Emma Baker Bowers Johnson. Mrs. Eargle graduated from Columbia Commercial College and attended USC for two years. She was employed with General Motors Insurance Corporation for over thirty eight years. After her retirement, she returned to work with her husband at John King Leather Company where she worked up until her health failed. She had many hobbies but her favorite ones were fishing at Lake Murray and shopping for antiques at estate sales. Sales signs always caught her eye and she could not pass up a bargain. Mrs. Eargle has been a member of Incarnation Lutheran Church since 1948. During her younger years she served the church in many capacities. She also prepared food for bereaved families when call upon to do so. Surviving are her son, Carroll Boland Eargle III of Columbia, Godchild, Frances Margaret Eargle of Irmo, one sister, Mary Rivers of Columbia, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Carroll Boland Eargle Jr. and her son, John Baker Eargle. Half sisters Ruby Bowers Ray Pitts, Hulda Mae Bowers Greene, sisters, Lucy Carlisle and Mildred Miller; brothers-in-law, Dudley Charles Ray, Dr. Dave Pitts, Leon Hobart Greene, Grey E. Carlisle, Berley Lee Miller Sr., and Henry P. Rivers. The family would like to thank those who assisted her in so many ways. Without the support of her church, caregivers, MSA Hospice, family, friends and the many prayers that were lifted up for her she would not have lived this long.
