

COLUMBIA - Ila “Jolly” Scott, 88, of Columbia, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015. Visitation will be held from 3 until 5 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2015, at Dunbar Funeral Home, 3926 Devine Street, Columbia. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 28, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at North Trenholm Baptist Church, 6515 N. Trenholm Road, Columbia, burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. She is survived by her two sons, Gordon “Scotty” Scott, Jr. of Blythewood, David Scott of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandsons, Matthew Scott (wife, Lindsay) of Fredericksburg, Va. and Zachary Scott of Blythewood; and a great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Scott. She is predeceased by her husband, Gordon Quattlebaum Scott, Sr.; parents, William Pearl Jolly and Mattie Suggs Jolly; and brothers, Hubert, William and John Jolly. She graduated as Valedictorian of Floyds High School and from Columbia College with honors. She was employed by the SC Department of Transportation and Dyar Insurance Agency, and was a teacher at Floyds High School. She was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church, where she volunteered as church librarian, Sunday School class president and teacher. Community involvement included Guardian ad Litem Program volunteer, Springwood Lake Club President, Girl Scouts Cadet Mother, and Summer Recreation Director for the children of Springwood Lake. Mrs. Scott was a very sacrificial and dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved laughing with her friends and as one friend recently stated, “She certainly lived up to her name Jolly.” Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, North Trenholm Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
