

LEXINGTON - A funeral service for Jay D. Rickman, Jr., 55, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Main Street Sanctuary. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2016, at the church with Trisagion Prayers at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Rickman died Tuesday, April 5, 2016. Born in Tacoma, Washington, he was a son of Jay D. Rickman, Sr. and Mary Karanikis Rickman. He graduated from Columbia High School in 1979 and later from the University of South Carolina in 1983. Mr. Rickman was currently the President and CEO of AMCOL Systems. An avid Gamecock fan, he enjoyed boating, running, cycling and spending time with his friends, wife and three boys. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of The Holy Trinity in Columbia and Charleston and was past Parish President. He was also past president of SCHFMA and still remained very active in the Chapter. Mr. Rickman was considered a pillar of the community and walked with God each and every day. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Wendy Sharpe Rickman of Lexington; sons, Demitri E. Rickman (fiancée Sarah Rodelsperger) of Charleston, Christian C. Rickman and Jacob A. Rickman, both of Lexington; sister, Rena R. Johnson (Charles) of Little Mountain; brother, Christopher A. Rickman of Columbia; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Barbara and Ezell Sharpe of West Columbia; goddaughter, Zoe Clekis of Charleston; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jay was an amazing man and father and will be truly missed by his family and all that knew him. In lieu of flowers, his family kindly requests that you keep his wife, children and parents in your prayers.
