
LEXINGTON John Neville Wilson, 95, died on Saturday, May 3, 2014. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, in the chapel of the Presbyterian Home in Lexington. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mr. Wilson was born in 1918 in Portland, ME, the first son of Harold A. and Marjorie Wilson. He grew up in Texas. Mr. Wilson was a physicist who was educated at Rice University and Harvard University. During World War II, he worked on the Manhattan Project. He worked for DuPont for 39 years, including 30 years at the Savannah River Plant from which he retired as Director of Budget and Planning. He was very active in the First Presbyterian Church of Aiken. He spent his retirement traveling and doing woodworking. For 30 years, he voluntarily assisted people in tax preparation.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy F. Wilson; three daughters, Melissa Atkinson (Joseph), Elizabeth Alford (Roger) and Kathleen Post (William). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
