COLUMBIA Lindsay Kellah McKay died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 28, 2016. Lindsay leaves behind her daughter, Haley Kellah DePace of Columbia; her parents, Raymond E. McKay Jr. and Elizabeth Dianne Davis McKay of Beaufort; her sister, Julie Nicole McKay of Beaufort; and her aunt, Joy Davis Hanna of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Belle Rabon Davis and William Allen Davis Sr.; and paternal grandparents, Jean Plowden McKay and Raymond E. McKay Sr. all from Columbia. Lindsay was born in Columbia on March 12, 1979 and attended A.C. Flora High School and Midlands Technical College. She worked as a legal assistant to her father for a time and later as a caregiver. Lindsay loved traveling with her family and was able to visit St. Martin and France during her short life. Artistically gifted, she had a passion for both music and drawing. She adored her cat, Stoney, and spending time with her cousins. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross once stated, “The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle…” The challenges Lindsay faced in this world nurtured her already tender heart and fostered in her a special compassion for the elderly, the physically compromised and all those whose lives she touched. She leaves her family with memories of a sweet-spirited young woman who laughed easily and loved genuinely. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, officiated by the Reverend Susan Ulmer of Columbia. The viewing will be from 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the funeral home. Light refreshments will be served following the funeral. Memorials may be made to SPCA Humane Society, 121 Humane Lane, Columbia, SC 29209. .
