COLUMBIA - A graveside service for Lula Coleman Isenhower, 98, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 16, 2018 in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mrs. Isenhower died Wednesday, December 5, 2018. Born June 22, 1920, in Hyman, SC, she was the daughter of the late Maxcy Carl Coleman and Ella Turner Coleman. She was a homemaker who also volunteered at Providence Hospital for many years. She was a longtime member of Kilbourne Park Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughters, Mrs. Newton Hornsby (Susan) of Edisto Beach and Mrs. John M. Dickert (Rebecca) of Columbia; four grandchildren, Jean D. Robinson, Mary Coleman H. Smith, Lovick Hornsby, III, and Jessica Leigh Isenhower; and six great-grandchildren. Her brother, Maxcy Coleman, is her only surviving sibling.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Lee Isenhower, Jr.; son, Ernest Lee Isenhower, III; and her siblings, William B. Coleman, Audrey Coleman Bailey, Helen Coleman Chaplin, Roberta Coleman, and Carl Coleman.
Special thanks to residents and staff of Blake at Woodcreek Farms, Wildewood Downs Rehabilitation Center and Heartstrings Hospice for their assistance in her care. Doctors Leon Khoury and Fred Smith eased her transition with consideration and kindess.
