

Born on March 6, 1931 in Gaffney, SC, she was a daughter of the late William “Bill” Parris and Annie Mae Parris. A graduate of Columbia Hospital Nursing School, she was a pediatric nurse who last worked for Dr. Robert Gibbes. Miriam loved the outdoors, growing flowers, vegetable gardening, canning, crocheting, and most of all taking care of her family. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church Congaree.
Surviving are her sons, Tommy Claytor (Nora) and Johnny Claytor; grandchildren, Lester Claytor (Savannah), Brittany Mullins (Sidney), Sarah Williams (Hunter), Parris Balazs (Joe), Abby Claytor, Tyler Claytor, Stephen White (Jax), Carrie McMahon; many great-grandchildren; and her sister, Peg Morgan.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, John “Jack” Claytor; son, Richard Ashley Claytor; and daughter, Anne Marie Claytor.
The family would like to thank all of the nurses and caregivers from Oakleaf Village of Lexington, Lexington Medical Center, Dr. Holland Crosswell, David Miller NP, and Brittany Mullins.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2025 at St. John's Episcopal Church Congaree Cemetery, with a reception following the service in the Parish hall at the church.
