Born in Eastover, SC on December 23, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Peter Muldrew Larsevick and Almead Addison Larsevick. Nina was a graduate of Lower Richland High School and attended Wingate College in North Carolina. After college, she came home and worked for the R.L. Bryan Company and then the South Carolina Tax Commission. While working at the R.L. Bryan Company, she would meet her future husband, Elliott Olin McElveen Jr., who also worked there. They married on August 24, 1960 and were blessed with a marriage that would last 57 years.
The most important things in Nina’s life were her faith and her family. She grew up going to Zion Episcopal Church in Eastover, and after her marriage became a member of Shandon Presbyterian Church in Columbia, where she would become a member of the Ed Anderson Sunday School Class. She was a devoted wife and caring mother and loved her family more than anything. And we certainly loved her and can’t thank her enough for everything she did for us. She will be greatly missed by her family and we can’t wait to see her again.
In addition to her parents, Nina was predeceased by her husband, Elliott Olin McElveen, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Mary Alice McElveen; son Elliott Olin McElveen III; and sister Reba Larsevick Spradley (Eddie).
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Shandon Presbyterian Church.
