Mr. Ralph Hill Moore Jr.

COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Ralph Hill Moore, Jr., 88, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 30, 2015 at Trenholm Road United Methodist Church, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Moore died Wednesday, November 25, 2015. Born in Florence, SC he was a son of the late Ralph Hill Moore, Sr. and Vera Boylston Moore. After his service in the U.S. Army during World War II he attended the University of South Carolina. With a degree in accounting, he began his career as a Certified Public Accountant with Derrick, Stubbs, and Stith. In 1963 he joined Owen Steel Company, Inc. as Controller where he would spend the rest of his career. He grew with Owen Steel becoming the Vice President of Finance, Senior Vice President and Treasurer, and in 1981 assumed the company's leadership as President and Chief Executive Officer. During this period, he also served on the Boards of Warsaw Insurance Company, The American Institute of Steel Construction, First National Bank, and South Carolina National Bank. He was a member of Trenholm Road United Methodist Church and Forest Lake Country Club. He enjoyed golf, hunting, and supporting the Gamecocks. One of his greatest joys came from being "Popie" and spending time with his two grandsons. He will be remembered as a devoted loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Geraldine (Jerree) Scott Moore of Columbia, SC; daughters, Debra Moore Carlin (Raymond Joseph) of Irvine, CA, Elizabeth Moore Fisher (David Clyde) of Little Mountain, SC; grandchildren, Ralph Scott Fisher of Columbia, SC, David Clyde Fisher, Jr. of Columbia, SC; brother, Bernard Emerson Moore (Dorothy Tolson) of Florence, SC and sister, Jeanne Moore Stephens of Florence, SC. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Moore Gilbert and his brother, Douglas Bolyston Moore. Memorials may be made to Trenholm Road United Methodist, 3401 Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC 29204.
