COLUMBIA - Rebecca K. Eagle, devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed into the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, July 10, 2020 after a brief but brave battle with Lymphoma.
Born in Gilbert, S.C., on July 15, 1931, Becky was the first child of the late Loretta Price Koon and Julius Wilbur Koon. After the early death of her own precious father, her mother married the late Guy S. Koon, whom Becky loved dearly as a Father. Becky was preceded in death by the adoring love of her life and husband, William Frederick Eagle, Jr., her beloved only grandchild, Theodore Gaillard Pinckney, III, (Tripp), her sister, Doretta K. Vickery and her brother, Verne P. Koon. Becky is also preceded by her best friend of 65 years, Ruth B. Boozer.
Becky is survived by her brother and sister-in-love, W. Donald and Ruth H. Koon, her sister, Rhoda K. LaRoque, her brother, Stephen G. Koon and cousin, Judy A. Kyser. She is also survived by her daughter Susan Eagle Pinckney and husband Theodore G. Pinckney. Also surviving are friend of more than 60 years, Edward L. Boozer, caring neighbor, Teresa G. Moore and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Becky’s life totally revolved around her Church, family and friends. No one treasured family and friends more than she.
Becky began her early work-life as secretary for the Columbia Chapter of the Boy Scouts of America. From there, she very proudly served as an Executive Secretary for South Carolina Electric and Gas Company for more than 30 years. After her retirement from “the Company” she decided to begin a second career in the Admissions Office of Columbia College of SC. Becky loved to travel, cook and entertain in her home. She showed her love for family, friends and visitors by welcoming them with wonderful southern fare always prepared with love. Another of Becky’s passions was card playing. (Bridge and Hand & Foot were her very favorites!) She was a very enthusiastic member of the King George Bridge Club of Columbia. A very soft place in her heart for abandoned pets, Becky adopted many poodles (large and small) and always had a rescue cat.
Becky was a loyal member of Cayce United Methodist Church for more than 50 years and served on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee as well as being a steadfast member of the Josie Lowrimore Circle. Her faith was an extremely important aspect of Becky’s life and she very often spoke of her deep love of God with others. She believed in the power of prayer and in the comfort that only God can provide in times of grief and trouble. Now, Becky has membership with Christ and his saintly Church above, where there is everlasting peace and joy with Him.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel conducted by Reverend Ben Herlong. Due to the social restrictions we face with the COVID-19 Pandemic, the family invites you to join them by accessing a livestream of the service starting at 10:55 a.m. on Dunbar Funeral Home – Devine’s Facebook page.
The family would be very grateful that memorials be made in Becky’s name to Cayce United Methodist Church, 1600 State Street, Cayce, SC, 29033. Becky and her family have so very much appreciated all the beautiful prayers, cards, calls and texts that have been received during Becky’s illness.
