Robert Allen Foy

COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Robert Allen Foy, 83, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel with a private family burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Foy died Saturday, December 24, 2016. Born in Farmington, Ky., he was a son of the late Samuel Voris and Mary Lou Yates Foy. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a member of Rosewood Baptist Church. He received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky and was a Registered Professional Engineer in multiple states and practiced internationally. He retired as Vice President of Wilbur Smith and Associates and later worked as Vice President of Florence & Hutcheson Consulting Engineers. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Shirley Hallman Foy; daughters, Jennifer Hall (Eugene) of Columbia, Amy Paulk (Ashley) of Augusta, Ga.; sister, Jennell Howard (Ted) of Murray, Ky., June Allen of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Bennett Hall, Andrew Hall, Marshall Paulk, Sam Paulk, Catherine Paulk, Caroline Paulk and Thomas Paulk. He was predeceased by a brother, William Samuel Foy. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
