

COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Rosa Y. Shaw of Columbia will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2015, at Centennial ARP Church, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2015, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Mrs. Shaw passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015, from acute leukemia. Born in Winnsboro, she was a daughter of the late Eula Whisonant and Leslie D. Young. She graduated from Mt. Zion Institute in Winnsboro and attended Erskine College and the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Shaw retired from Small Business Administration (SBA) after 35 years of government service and was a member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was a Bridge Life Master and member of Columbia Bridge Center, an active member of Centennial ARP Church, Unity Edwards Class and Morning Circle. Surviving are her son, Andy M. Shaw; and a number of nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Guy A. Shaw; sisters, Emma Clark, Ruth Timberlake; and brothers, Andy, Carl, Robert and Tom Young. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Centennial ARP Church, 1413 Laurel Street, Columbia, SC 29201 or to a charity of one’s choice. The family wishes to thank friends, family and well wishers who graciously prayed, sent cards and visited us in our most difficult times, we are eternally grateful for your love and support. She was strong in her faith and now rests in the loving arms of Jesus.
