

Sandra Hampton Clary, 78, passed away in her sleep at NHC Lexington, after battling Alzheimer's disease for more than ten years. Born Sandra Faye Hampton, she was the daughter of Vaughn and Eva Hampton. A lifelong proud resident of Columbia, she graduated from AC Flora High School in 1964. She worked as a secretary for a number of local businesses eventually retiring from Midlands Technical College where she was the administrative assistant for the Computer Science Department Head.
Surviving her are her husband of 27 years Ronald Clary, her brother Robert Hampton of Columbia, son and daughter-in-law Kim and Alyson Lerstang of Greenville SC, a step daughter and her husband Allison and Kasper Kjaersgaard of Holbaek Denmark, a step son and his wife Jonathan and Shanna Clary of Mesa Arizona and 10 grandchildren, Talley and Jack Lerstang, Joseph, Emma and Samuel Knuckley, Charlie Kjaersgaard, Aiden, Kiera, Ava and Mila Clary. She is preceded in death by her mother Eva Moore and her father Vaughn Hampton.
Always ready with a smile and a kind work, Sandy was a sweet, caring soul. She loved music, shag dancing with her husband, summer vacations in the North Carolina mountains and the beaches in South Carolina, traveling to distant lands on cruises and attending Carolina Gamecock sporting events. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and was devoted to her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Friday, June 20th at Trenholm Road United Methodist Church located at 3401 Trenholm Road, Columbia SC. A reception will follow in the church parlor.
