Born in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Charles Clayton Dennis and Peggy Sanderson Dennis. A graduate of Spring Valley High School, Class of 1982, she went on to attend Midlands Technical College. Sophia worked for South Carolina Department of Natural Resources in the titling section. In her spare time, she enjoyed arts and crafts and all things Halloween. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandkids, and eating out with her family.
Surviving are her son, David A. Pacheco; daughter, Hannah Black; brother, Charles “Chuck” Clayton Dennis II; and grandchildren, Dakota, Charleigh, Amora, and Delilah.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Jackson Creek Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
