William Hubert Hale

COLUMBIA- William H. Hale went to be with the Lord on Wednesday December 24, 2014. A native of Lake Park Georgia, Bill was born on January 26, 1931 to the late Bessie and Tom Hale. Growing up he was more commonly known as Sport. He was preceded in death by his Brother JT and Sister Irma Nell. He is the husband of Helen Harrell Hale for sixty three years. He is the father to Tom (Dru) of Apex NC and Barry (Kim) of Columbia as well as six grandchildren: Travis, Hunter, Conor, Bennett, Kirsten and Jackson. Bill was a graduate of Norman College where he was known as Bit and was a starter on the baseball team. Bill served his country in the United States Air Force, prior to joining IBM where he worked for 28 years and then entered a second career with PMSC for 20 years. Serving in the Air Force and working for IBM afforded Bill the opportunity to live in many cities across the country and he leaves lifelong friends across the country. Bill served is community through service on the Spring Valley neighborhood association and most importantly served his God as deacon and Sunday School teacher at Shandon Baptist Church. Services are scheduled for 1pm Saturday December 27, 2014 at Shandon Baptist Church, 5250 Forest Drive, Columbia SC. Visitation will be at 12:30 pm on Saturday and internment will immediately follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery, Columbia SC. Memorials may be made to the Missions Program at Shandon Baptist Church.
