

She was born in Concord, on January 12, 1926 a daughter of Frank and Alicia (Keller) Silva. She attended local schools and graduated from Concord High School.
She was a loving and supportive farmer’s wife to her husband James, who owned the operated the Bly’s family farm on Mountain Road, adjacent to the Concord Country Club. Mrs. Bly was also an Avon Lady for many years.
Alicia was an avid knitter and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. She and James enjoyed dancing with the Concord Coach Square Dance Club. They spent many years traveling extensively throughout the United States.
Mrs. Bly was an active volunteer during her lifetime. She was involved in The PTA and served as Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. She was also a long time member and volunteer at Grace Episcopal Church where she taught Sunday school.
Alicia considered herself a member of a large family comprised of all her brothers and sisters of the I.O.O.F. She was involved in the Rebekah Assembly for 35 years. Alicia Bly was PPRA of Fidelity #14 in Concord. She served as a Delegate in the IARA. She was serving as Senior Warden in the LEA of Concord and President of the Northern New England Dept. Association of LAPM in 2004 when she fell ill.
She is predeceased by her brother Frank Silva, Jr. and a grandchild Katherine E. Bly.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, James Bly of Concord; two sons, Kenneth J. Bly and his wife Wendy of Pawcatuck, CT and Peter R. Bly of Fairfield, CT, a sister, Virginia Plante of New London, NH; three grandchildren, Kristy L. Head, Jessica A. Bly and James C. Bly; and two great grandchildren Olivia B. Head and Henry J. Head, one niece and one nephew.
Following a private internment, a public memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Concord.
In lieu of f lowers, the family requests a donation to the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association, 30 Pillsbury Street, Concord, NH 03301 in recognition of their years of home care for Alicia.
