

He was born in Concord, May 25, 1917, a lifelong resident, the son of Horace Albert and Clara Amy (Walker) Holt.
He was a 1934 graduate of Concord High School.
In 1935 he went into business by learning the upholstery trade, making of mattresses, window shades, blinds and furniture. In 1946, a business known as Holt and Brown became known as H.A. Holt and Sons. (Horace A Holt, A. Wendell Holt, Ralph H. Holt). At that time the business was at 132 North Main Street and then relocated at 5 Bridge Street. In 1957 the business moved to 39 South Street.
On June 14, 1965 the Flag Business was acquired from Chauncey White Window Shade and Flag Shop, which was located on Pleasant Street.
He was a First Aid Instructor for the American Red Cross during the Second World War and taught the nurses at the former N.H. Memorial Hospital in Concord.
He was an active member of The First Baptist Church since 1932, serving as Sunday School Superintendent, member of the Board of Trustees and as Church Clerk for 35 years.
He was the Church Historian, writing two histories of the Church. The first one in August of 1968 commemorating the One Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary and the second was in 1993 for the one hundred seventy fifth Anniversary.
He enjoyed traveling, having visited many of the European Countries, also Israel and Jordan in the Middle East, many places in Canada and the United States, including Hawaii.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothea Evelyn (Burbank) Holt of Concord, plus nieces, nephews and cousins.
His brother Ralph H. Holt died in January 2004.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 1pm at CenterPoint Church, 20 North State Street, Concord, with Reverends David Butler and David Spencer officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Building Fund of CenterPoint Church, 20 North State Street, Concord, NH 03301.
