Barbara (Quimby) Sargent, of Bennington, passed away on February 17, 2018 at Home. She was 77 years of age. Barbara was born in Chichester, the daughter of the late Russell and Mary Quimby. She attended Chichester Elementary School, and graduated from Concord High School. She worked for 34 years at Blue Cross-Blue Shield of New Hampshire and retired from there.
She was a member of the Chichester United Methodist Church where she spent many Sunday’s singing in the choir and participating in church events. She was a very independent person, and wanted to do everything herself. Barb never like to ask for help of any kind. She loved being out in the country, as she had a lot of wild life running around on her land (turkeys, deer, and bears). She would watch them from her living-room windows.
Her family includes a son, Ronald Sargent and his wife Debbie, of Hillsboro; her sister Nellie Sinclair and husband Ronald, of Epsom; cousins Mary Jo Dane, of Florida: and James Mitchell, Jr., of South Carolina; a nephew, Mark Stevens, of Gilmanton; and her friend, Tonya Hannafon, of New York.
She was predeceased by a brother, Billy Quimby; a sister, Beverly Stevens; her aunt, Nellie Mitchell, of Concord, and a niece, Terry Stevens.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at Leavitt Cemetery, in Chichester, NH, in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations, in Barbara’s memory, may be sent to a charity of one’s choice, or to the Concord Regional V.N.A. Hospice Program, located at 240 Pleasant Street, Concord, NH 03301. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at https://www.BennettFuneral.com for the Sargent family.
