

Elizabeth (Betty) Densmore, 89, of Heritage Heights Retirement Community in Concord, passed away on Wednesday, June 1 at Concord Hospital, after a brief illness. Betty was born in 1921 in Farmington, CT to Howard Q. and Ruth Abbie (Hartshorne) Thomas. She lived at 28 South Spring Street in Concord for 61 years.
Betty attended Concord schools, graduating from Concord High School in 1937. She graduated with an associate in Secretarial Science from the then Colby Junior College in New London in 1940.
Betty was the office manager for the dental office of Dr. Jack Freeze.
She was a devout Christian and a member of the South Congregational Church. She was involved with many activities of the church over the years, finding great satisfaction especially with being a Compassionate Caregiver.
Betty was a very active member of the Concord community as a clarinet player with the Nevers Band, a hiker with the Concord Mountain Goats, and a birdwatcher with the Concord Bird Club and the Audubon Society. She enjoyed living at Heritage Heights for the past three years and continued to be involved with various activities there.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Densmore, two sisters: Frances Thomas Munoz Davis and Margaret Thomas Moran, her brother John Thomas, a nephew, Douglas A. Rice, a nephew, Faith M. Munoz and a grandniece, Eliza Hope Thomas.
She is survived by two sisters: The Rev. Helen D. Thomas and Mildred T. Rice and her husband, Donald, all of Concord: also by nieces: Martha Quigley, Joanne Bossert, Janette Gustafson and Jennifer Munoz: nephews: William Thomas, James Thomas, Peter Thomas, Benjamin Thomas, Mason Munoz, and Shane Munoz, as well as great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to the calling hours this Sunday, June 5th from 3-5pm at the Bennett Funeral Home 3 Church Street Chapel in Concord. The funeral will be held on Monday, June 6th at 1pm at the South Congregational Church in Concord. Interment will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery.
Gifts of flowers will be appreciated or a financial gift in Betty’s name can be sent to the Audubon Society.
Betty will be sorely missed by all.
