
Hilda Lillian Orr Dearborn, 98, died on October 29, 2011 at Presidential Oaks in Concord, N.H. She was born December 12, 1912 in Manchester, NH, to Charles William and Mabel (Lane) Orr. She graduated from Manchester Central High School and Plymouth Normal School. Later, she earned a bachelors degree from Plymouth Teachers’ College. She was a teacher for 25 years at the former Garrison School in West Concord. She lived many years in West Concord where she was an active member of the West Congregational Church. Following her retirement, she lived with her daughter in Concord and, for 20 years, volunteered at the Parent Information Center.
She was a much-loved teacher, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her favorite place was York Beach, Maine, where she spent many summers. She had a large repertoire of poems which she loved reciting for all who would listen and loved to tell others that she was born on 12-12-12.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Henry Dearborn in 1974, twin brother Holman, brothers Lane and Jordan, sister Blanche and granddaughters Ellen Diane Woodfin and Deborah Daley.
She is survived by daughters, Diane D. Daley of New Hartford, NY, Donna D. Woodfin of Concord, and a son, Jenness H. Dearborn of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours and a celebration of her life will be held on Friday, November 4, starting at 2:00 PM at Bennett’s Funeral Home in Concord, followed by burial at Maple Grove Cemetery in West Concord.
