

James Richard Mikesell, 82, a resident of Concord, NH, passed away on May 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 30, 1942, to his late parents, Reuben Byron and Mary Ellen (Rockhill) Mikesell, in Richmond, IN. Jim, as he was known to everyone, graduated from Richmond High School in the Class of 1960. He attended Indiana University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1967. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army Security Agency.
Jim was known for being a selfless individual who often helped those less fortunate than himself. He had several passions close to his heart: spending time with family, woodworking, and working on vintage cars, especially Crosley automobiles. Jim’s career spanned many years in the aerospace industry, culminating in his role as President and Chief Operations Officer of Thermal Electronics, Inc., until his retirement in 2011. He was also a longtime member of Concordia Lutheran Church. Jim touched many lives in various circles and will be fondly remembered and missed by all.
Jim, the beloved patriarch of his family, is survived by his cherished bride, Linda Lee (Heist) Mikesell, also of Concord, with whom he celebrated over sixty years of marriage. His two children also survive him: daughter Corinne Smith of Annapolis, MD, and son Andrew Mikesell and his wife, Cynthia, of Westwood, MA. Jim is the proud grandfather of his five grandchildren: Juliana Mikesell, James Mikesell, Sarah Smith, Grant Smith, and Craig Smith. He is also survived by three siblings: brother Jay Mikesell, and twins Joe Mikesell and Jane Love, along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Ponder.
Visitation for Jim will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street, Concord, NH. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home beginning at 10:30 AM. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend. Graveside services with full military honors will occur on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH. Instead of flowers, please consider donating in Jim’s memory to the Concordia Lutheran Church, Capital Campaign, 211 North Main Street, Concord, NH 03301. Arrangements are under the direction of Bennett Funeral Home.
